I’m a Web Developer. What happens now?
Last week my Cohort mates and I completed the 9-week Immersive Web Development Bootcamp at Juno College and while grueling at times I could not ask for a better group of people to go on that journey with.
So what now? We’re all web developers, we have earned that title.
Now comes the challenge to break into the web developer job market.
It is certainly daunting. Countless applications, rejections, and subsequent mood swings are in store but it is all for a purpose. We all spent the time and resources to start this journey. The choice to embark on this adventure, to make meaningful change in our careers, in our lives was not a decision made lightly.
We will all stumble at times that will be certain but the Juno community is one I am confident leaning on and will help me along the way. I hope I can do the same for anyone in need.
If you fall, just brush yourself off and try again. Yes it is a cliché but it is a cliché for a reason.
To my cohort mates, I am confident all of us will find employment as web developers. Some may take longer than others but as we all know this process is a marathon not a sprint.
The best advice I can leave for anyone else going through the career change process is to ‘love yourself’. Take time to appreciate the little things about yourself that you are proud of. It can be easy to be down on yourself and count yourself out but make it a practice to be proud of who you are or at least the work you are doing to get there.
